The Town of Sineu & my Favourite Market in Mallorca

Sineu market, the only market in Mallorca trading in live animals since 1306 Markets and Fairs Sineu market, one of Mallorca's oldest markets, sparks the interest of considerable number of market-goers every week, both local and not-so-local, and is particularly popular among foreign tourists.

Sineu Market (Wednesday) - Map & details Sineu Market is a wonderfully authentic market held every Wednesday morning in the pretty rural town of Sineu in central Mallorca. Along with the usual fruit, vegetable and local produce stalls, there is a livestock market where farm animals are bought and sold.

It is not a particularly large town, nor is it home to landmarks of any great repute, however, having spent the best part of my Wednesday there, I would certainly recommend the town to anyone looking for a relaxed day soaking up a little corner of real Mallorca. Sineu is, in fact, quite easy to reach by road turning off the Ma-13 from the north.

Sineu Market

The Sineu Market is held every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the center of the town. Thousands of people stroll through Es Fossar square, Es Mercadal square and the streets of the old town, seeing the wide variety of stalls presented by the Sineu market.

In the fall, I notice that the market only comes alive from 9 am. With bad weather, many market vendors don't bother to show up.
